HISTORY: The flag of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a distinctive and symbolic representation of the nation’s unity, history, and values. Adopted on December 2, 1971. The flag reflects the union of seven emirates in the Arabian Peninsula.
The UAE flag features three horizontal bands of equal width, arranged in green, white, and black from top to bottom. The green stripe at the top symbolises fertility, prosperity, and the country’s agricultural heritage. The white stripe in the middle represents peace and honesty. The black stripe at the bottom signifies the oil wealth of the nation and the strength of its people.
On the hoist side, there are three vertical bands of equal width in red, white, and black, which collectively form the Pan-Arab colours. The presence of these colours underscores the UAE’s commitment to Arab unity and solidarity.
In the centre of the flag, within the white stripe, there is a national emblem known as the “Qasr Al Watan.” This emblem consists of a golden falcon. A symbol of force and courage, with its wings spread. The falcon holds a parchment containing the name of Allah, the national flag, and the UAE’s founding document.
The UAE flag, with its bold colours and meaningful symbols. Serves as a powerful representation of the country’s unity, heritage, and aspirations for progress and prosperity. It is proudly displayed across the nation on various occasions. Reflecting the collective identity and pride of the people of the United Arab Emirates.
