HISTORY: The flag of Malaysia, measuring 60 x 90cm. A striking and meaningful representation of the country’s rich cultural diversity and historical significance. Adopted on September 16, 1963, the Malaysian flag, known as the “Jalur Gemilang” or “Stripes of Glory,” is a symbol of national pride and unity.
The flag consists of 14 alternating horizontal stripes of equal width. The field is red at the top and bottom, with a white band in the centre. The red represents courage and determination, while the white symbolises purity and integrity. In the blue square in the upper-left corner, there is a yellow crescent and a 14-pointed star, known as the “Bintang Persekutuan” or Federal Star.
The 14 stripes represent the 13 states of Malaysia and the federal territories. While the 14 points of the star symbolise unity among these regions. The crescent represents Islam, the predominant religion in Malaysia. The blue field signifies unity among the country’s diverse ethnic groups, including Malays, Chinese, Indians, and indigenous communities.
Measuring 60 x 90cm, the Malaysian flag is displayed proudly during national celebrations, events, and official functions. It serves as a powerful emblem of the nation’s commitment to harmony, diversity, and progress. The design reflects the shared values and aspirations of the Malaysian people, fostering a sense of national identity and pride.
