HISTORY: The flag of Syria, adopted on May 29, 1980. Is a tricolour emblem that reflects the nation’s history, unity, and political ideology. The flag consists of three horizontal stripes of red, white, and black. With two green five-pointed stars placed side by side in the centre of the white stripe.
The red stripe at the top symbolises the sacrifices made for the independence and freedom of Syria. It represents the bloodshed by those who fought against colonialism and oppression.
