HISTORY: As of my last knowledge update in January 2022. Swaziland has changed its name to Eswatini. Therefore, I will provide information about the flag of Eswatini.
The flag of Eswatini is a distinctive and symbolic representation of the nation’s history, culture, and values. Adopted on October 6, 1968. The flag underwent a modification in 1986 to include the national emblem.
The flag consists of horizontal bands of blue, yellow, and red. The blue stripe at the top signifies peace and stability, reflecting the tranquility of the nation. The yellow band in the middle represents the country’s mineral wealth and resources, especially its significant production of gold. The red stripe at the bottom symbolises the battles fought by Eswatini’s people throughout history.
In the centre of the flag, there is a shield and two spears, surrounded by a traditional siSwati feather tassel. The shield represents protection. And the spears symbolise the defence of Eswatini’s independence. The feather tassel embodies cultural pride and spirituality.
Eswatini’s flag, with its bold colours and meaningful symbols. Stands as a proud representation of the nation’s heritage and aspirations. It serves as a unifying emblem. Fostering a sense of identity and national pride among the people of Eswatini.
